by GIRIDHAR PARTHASARATHI 01 Jul 2024

Are you a new plant parent? Or are you looking for new additions for your plant family and are confused as to which ones to add? Well, why don’t you consider adorning your space with some good, old Pothos?

Considered to be extremely popular amongst indoor plants, Pothos are quintessentially one of the easiest indoor plants that you could take care of. Whether you have a green thumb or you are known for your clumsiness, Pothos should be your choice of plants! Whether you want to keep them in hanging baskets or planters, the choice is yours!

Presenting you types of Pothos that are easy and fun to grow and you’ll love to have them on display!

Types of Pothos

1.Golden Pothos [Epipremnum aureum]:

One of the most widely available pothos, the Golden Pothos is recognized by its waxy, heart-shaped green leaves. Having yellow variegation, these pothos are fast growers. They thrive in various light conditions ranging from low to bright, indirect light. These medium-sized leaves will enhance the look of your space and make it look all Pinteresty and aesthetic.

2.Satin Pothos [Scindapsus pictus ‘Argyraeus’]

Commonly known as ‘Satin pothos’, these green beauties are not typically Pothos but since they share almost the same characteristics, we’ve added them to this list.

With their small, shimmery green and silver leaves, these pothos have a vining growth habit. The leaves are usually green with light green spots with a good shimmer on the leaves.

3.Neon Pothos [Epipremnum aureum ‘Neon’]

Because of its almost exact coloring, the neon pothos is commonly confused for the lemon-lime philodendron, which has vivid green-yellow foliage. It thrives in medium-to-bright indirect light, which preserves the vibrancy of its neon foliage.

4.Manjula Pothos [Epipremnum aureum ‘Manjula’]

A unique type of pothos known for its creamy yellow-white leaves with light and dark green variegation is the manjula pothos. It is a patented variety that was developed at the University of Florida. Although it can endure low light levels, this pothos loves bright, indirect light whenever it can.

5.Snow Queen Pothos [Epipremnum aureum ‘Snow Queen’]

The snow queen pothos is a highly variegated pothos type that is distinguished from the marble queen pothos by its gorgeous white or cream leaves decorated with delicate streaks of medium green variegation. It needs bright, indirect light to keep its leaves from reverting because of the sparse covering of green on its leaves.

6.Glacier Pothos [Epipremnum aureum ‘Glacier’]

The pearls, jade, and joy pothos—which have a nearly identical appearance—have already been discussed. The glacial pothos is a third kind that has been added to the mix, adding to the confusion. Although its foliage resembles that of jade pothos and pearls quite a bit, it can be identified by its somewhat silvery colouring.

In addition, compared to pearls, jade, and pleasure pothos, its leaves are rounder and smaller. Regretfully, it can be challenging to locate the glacier pothos kind because it is rather uncommon. But if you do end up with one, be sure to give it medium-to-bright indirect light to promote steady variegation and healthy growth.

7.Jade Pothos (Epipremnum aureum ‘Jade’)

The jade pothos is a fantastic choice for those with limited natural light because of its strong jade-green foliage. It performs effectively in a variety of lighting settings, including bright, indirect light and dim light.

The jade pothos have leaves that are similarly heart-shaped and waxy to those of the golden and marble queen pothos, although they are slightly slimmer.

8.Dragon's Tail Pothos (Epipremnum pinnatum)

The dragon’s tail pothos is an Epipremnum pinnatum, not an Epipremnum aureum, which sets it apart from most other pothos variants. Its maintenance is quite similar, though, and it is still regarded as a pothos. The jade-green, slender leaves of the dragon’s tail pothos are distinctive; as it ages, these leaves expand and get fenestrations.

9.Cebu Blue Pothos (Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Cebu Blue’)

The Cebu blue pothos is a distinctive variety of pothos that is native to the Philippine island of Cebu. In addition to the baltic blue pothos, the Cebu blue is a type of dragon’s tail pothos, or Epipremnum pinnatum, as opposed to the majority of pothos, which are Epripremnum aureum. Its tiny, silvery green-blue leaves, which become fenestrated as they age, are its defining characteristic.

10.Baltic Blue Pothos (Epipremnum pinnatum 'Baltic Blue')

The Epipremnum pinnatum, popularly called dragon tail pothos, is the parent plant of the baltic blue pothos. Its dark green leaves that take on a blue hue set it apart from the dragon tail and Cebu blue pothos. In comparison to Cebu blue pothos, it also has larger leaves that often produce fenestrations early.

Pothos can be such a great addition to your plant friends or even if you don’t have a green thumb, these can easily be your emotional support plants. If you are looking to buy these beauties online, reach out to us at  Little Jungle!
